Description
Texas License to Carry (LTC) Certification Class. Covers all state-mandated curriculum including the newest changes to Texas law and even some nuances you may not have known.
What you’ll do
- Classroom Instruction · 4+ hours — State-mandated curriculum, plus 2026 law updates and practical nuances. Culminates in a 25-question True/False/Multiple Choice state test.
- Shooting Proficiency Test · 30 to 45 minutes on the Range — Range Safety Brief, then course of fire scored on a B-27 target (provided) using the 5/4/3 scoring diagram. Minimum passing score 70% (175 of 250 possible).
Cost
- Class: $75.00 (includes range fee)
Not included (you’ll handle these directly with the State of Texas)
- State application fee. Visit txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/ltc/ to fill out your DPS application and pay the non-refundable $40.00 fee. Some applicants are eligible for a discount — see the DPS FAQ for details.
- Fingerprinting fee. You’ll be prompted to schedule your fingerprinting via IdentoGo at the end of the DPS application — $10.00.
Note: You do not have to have your DPS application filled out before your LTC class. That only matters if you’d like your fingerprints done before or on the same day as the class.
